Respirators donated by Messi are stranded in an Argentine airport

The 32 respirators donated to Rosario by the Leo Messi Foundation, created by soccer star Lionel Messi, have been stranded at the player’s hometown airport for ten months, Eduardo Romagnoli, director of this terminal, reported on Wednesday.

«The respirators are technical ventilation equipment, they arrived in August. They are preserved at the Rosario Islas Malvinas International Airport and in the best way, “Romagnoli told the TN channel.

«This whole issue is pending approval by Anmat (National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology) because it is a direct donation from the Messi Foundation to the Municipality of Rosario. The only body that can authorize entry is Anmat, “he explained.

The Leo Messi Foundation was going to donate at least 50 respirators to the hometown of the Barcelona forward, but due to the obstacles in the delivery of the first 32, the shipment of the rest was postponed.

Anmat sources told the newspaper La Capital that they did not authorize the entry because “they did not present the necessary documentation.”

“Among the missing were the product records by the health authority of origin,” they detailed.

The ventilation technical teams arrived in the Santa Fe city of Rosario in the first days of August in a private plane.

The Leo Messi Foundation had previously donated medical equipment for the fight against the coronavirus that was distributed without inconvenience among different hospitals in Buenos Aires, the province of Buenos Aires and the province of Santa Fe. EFE (HN)
