The French motorcycle rider Julien Toniutti, who spent four days in an induced coma after his fall in the penultimate stage of the Dakar-2019, was discharged after “40 days of hospitalization”, according to a statement released by his team.
“40 days after his accident on the penultimate stage of the Dakar, Julien Toniutti will be able to resume a normal life,” he said in a statement.
“The crash was important but now everything is working out quietly, everything is going well,” said the French rider, who was contesting his first Dakar (held in Peru between January 7 and 17).
“I still have memory problems and my right arm is broken,” said the 37-year-old.
Four-time French road rally champion, Toniutti was close to 60th in the standings before this penultimate stage with his KTM.
Today I am on the right track. The hardest thing is over, “he added. AFP
