Swiss Roger Federer, six-time Australian Open champion, said this Sunday after beating Croatian Marin Cilic in the final that “the fairy tale continues.”
«I am so happy, it is incredible. I’m happy it ended, but winning is absolutely a dream come true, “Federer said to add:” The fairy tale continues for me. After the great year I had, it’s incredible.
«I have waited a long time for this final. It’s easier in the afternoon, but when it’s nighttime you think about it all day, “he said, ending with a premonitory phrase:” I’m going to have a great time tonight. “
While Federer collected the Norman Brookes cup, the legendary Rod Laver recorded the scene on his mobile phone from the stands. I always thank Rocket. Guys like him are the reason I play tennis, “said Federer about it.
Cilic congratulated Federer and said it had been “an incredible two weeks” for him. “And they could have been the best two of my life,” he added.
«I had the opportunity at the beginning of the fifth set, but he played a great match. My team has been incredible in the two weeks. We started this year in a spectacular way and hopefully I can reach more finals and lift more trophies “, said Cilic that this Monday he will appear third in the world.
