Rossi leaves hospital after motocross accident

Italian Valentino Rossi, third in the MotoGP World Championship standings, left the Rimini hospital (northeast Italy) where he was admitted on Thursday after an accident during motocross training, published the Italian sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport.
According to La Gazzetta, the Italian pilot underwent control medical examinations after having spent the night and the beginning of the day under observation. The tests revealed nothing and Rossi “was allowed to go home” around 5:00 p.m. local time (3:00 p.m. GMT), the newspaper said.
The 39-year-old nine-time world champion was injured during a motocross meeting in Mondavio, near Rimini, and suffered “chest and abdominal trauma,” his team announced.
Yamaha had specified that Rossi was going to undergo new medical tests this Friday and if they are positive he could leave the hospital during the day.
Rossi, who crashed in the last Grand Prix in France as he battled for victory with his Spanish teammate Maverick Viñales, should have no problem taking part in the Italian Grand Prix next week at Mugello. AFP
