The board of directors of the América de México team announced the hiring of Argentine Santiago Solari, as the club’s new technical director.

The former Real Madrid footballer will be the successor of Mexican Miguel Herrera in the Americanist bank, as reported by the team on their social networks.

The “Piojo” Herrera, was dismissed from his position after being eliminated in the semifinals of the Concacaf Champions League and for his repeated acts of indiscipline.

Solari, will be in charge of managing the threads of the azulcrema team for the Guardians 2021 tournament, in which the sporting objective will be not only to be in the Liguilla, but to qualify among the first four.

Santiago Solari boasts experience as a coach at Real Madrid and Real Madrid Castilla. With the merengue first team he directed 32 games, of which he won 22, drew two and lost eight.

In addition, he knows Mexican soccer for a stage as a footballer. He was part of the Atlante Iron Colts squad in 2009, when they stood out for playing Barcelona face to face.

One of the aspects that the América board was looking for to define the profile of the new coach was discipline, a field in which Herrera was overcome by being involved in an attempted row with the LAFC coaching staff, as well as multiple expulsions in the Liga MX for its constant and angry complaints to the referees that are part of a long list of misconduct throughout the career of ‘Piojo’.

The next step for the azulcrema team will be to define the issue of casualties and reinforcements, for which there is little time, since it should be remembered that the Liga MX tournament starts on January 8.

For the Clausura 2021 in which América will debut on January 9 against San Luis, the Eagles added a reinforcement before the arrival of Solari: Mexican midfielder Mauro Lainez. Ap (HN).
