During the event, the world classifications of boxers, appeals and reviews of bouts, as well as events related to the application of laws and regulations designed to protect boxers and strengthen the sport will be discussed.

On September 17, “Canelo” Álvarez was proclaimed the new junior middleweight champion by beating Briton Liam Smith, who exhibited his scepter, in the ninth round.

The duel between “Canelo” Álvarez and Smith came as the Mexican fighter refused to face undefeated Kazakh middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, who is 36-0 with 33 wins by knockout.

The fight between the two was the one that the World Boxing Council (WBC) demanded from “Canelo” Álvarez, but he did not want to accept it and decided to renounce the title to lose weight again.
