Sergio Ramos, captain of Real Madrid, reached another milestone in his long career this Saturday by participating in his 500th match in the league -39 with Sevilla and 461 with the white team-, which places him tenth in the ranking of players with more matches in the highest category of Spanish football.
It is led by Andoni Zubizarreta, with 622 games, and is followed by Joaquín Sánchez who, with 558, is the only one, apart from Ramos, who is still active. Completing the ‘top-10’ are Raúl González Blanco (550), Eusebio (543), Paco Buyo (542), Manolo Sanchís jr. (523), Iker Casillas (510), Xavi Hernández (505) and Miquel Soler (504).
In his 500 games in the Spanish league, in which he has won five titles, Sergio Ramos accumulates numbers that also show his importance in attack, increased even more in recent seasons, with 74 goals and 31 assists.
The Real Madrid captain was able to celebrate this figure this Saturday with a victory against Huesca (4-1) in which he had up to two headers to score, but goalkeeper Andrés Fernández deprived him of it.
In addition, having reached 461 league appearances with the white team’s jersey, Ramos becomes the fourth footballer with the most appearances in this competition with Real Madrid, equaled with Santillana, and only behind Raúl, Sanchís jr. and Casillas. Of the 461, they have won 310, tied 73 and lost 78. EFE (hn).
