Simon and Monfils put France one step away from the Davis Cup quarterfinals

Gilles Simon and Gael Monfils carried out their respective commitments and put France one step away from winning against Germany in Frankfurt and reaching the Davis Cup quarter-finals.

The French team, current runner-up, only needs a victory to seal their classification, while the local team no longer has a margin of error.

Simon beat Jan Lennard Struff in a tight duel. He won in five sets (7-6(4), 2-6, 6-7(1), 6-2 and 10-8). The fifth was especially close. The Frenchman used his experience and physical condition to beat the German tennis player.

Monfils had fewer problems in the following clash. He beat Phillip Kohlschreiber 6-4, 7-5, 7-6(4).
