Romanian Simona Halep, the last Wimbledon champion, points out that although she feels the cancellation of this tournament due to the coronavirus pandemic, she has to be positive, because after all, she will enjoy her title for two years.
“I get the positive part because for two years I will be the defending champion!” Halep joked. “I can live with that feeling for another year, so that’s a good thing,” Halep said on the WTA website.
The player has been confined to her home for 23 days. He was preparing to participate in Miami caring for a foot injury when suspensions began to be announced.
“I was preparing a week before they closed everything,” Halep recalled at Tennis Legends. “I couldn’t play at Indian Wells because I was injured, but I was saddened to hear the news that everything will be canceled due to this situation,” he says.
