Sochi circuit approved to race Formula 1

The International Automobile Federation (FIA), after evaluating the Sochi street circuit (Russia), confirmed that the city is ready to host the Formula 1 Grand Prix to be held from October 10 to 12 in the streets of this Russian city.
The inspection, led by the Formula 1 race director and safety delegate, Charlie Whiting, presents positive reports in terms of the quality of the track and the environment, which the FIA explains in a statement is “adequate with the purpose of hosting a career.
For the first time in history, a Formula 1 Grand Prix will arrive in Russia. The 5.5 km circuit is located above the Sochi Olympic Park, which hosted the Winter Games last February. The license will be valid for the next seven years.
Whiting was very satisfied after visiting Sochi: “The circuit is in very good condition and a license will be issued. Everything has been done according to plans – the curbs are very good, the shoulders, the railings, the walls – everything is in a very good condition. I’m very happy. I can say without a doubt that the circuit is ready 60 days in advance, which is very rare in reality.
The race director confirmed that it will not be necessary to return to the circuit before the Grand Prix, the sixteenth round of the season, which will be held on the second weekend of October, specifically from 10 to 12 of that month.
