Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry secured his second NBA leading scorer title on Sunday in the game against the Memphis Grizzlies on the final day of the regular season.
With a spectacular jump shot in the first quarter, Curry added his fourth point of the game that guaranteed the crown, which was played by guard Bradley Beal (Wizards) until this Sunday.
At 33 years old, Curry has an average of 31.8 points per game with an effectiveness of 48.3% in field shots, in addition to averaging 5.3 triples (best mark in the league), 5.5 rebounds and 5 , 7 assists.
The Warriors point guard, who had already achieved this title in 2016, and the legendary Michael Jordan are the only players in history to become top scorers in the NBA with at least 33 years.
Curry joins Jordan himself and fellow legendary Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem-Abdul Jabbar as the only players in history to accumulate multiple NBA titles, top scorer and MVP (Most Valuable Player) awards.
The Warriors point guard has in his showcase three champion rings (2015, 2017 and 2018) and two MVPs from the 2015 and 2016 seasons, in addition to seven appearances in the All-Star Game and two contest victories of triples.
Curry’s leadership has been key for the Warriors, weighed down by injuries like Klay Thompson’s, to achieve a place for the Western Conference ‘play in’ (playoff repechage). (AFP) (GG)
