The Acapulco Open is left without the defending champion

The Chinese Yafan Wang could not revalidate her title of champion of the Mexican Open tennis that is played in Acapulco when she was eliminated in the first round by her compatriot Xiyu Wang.

Xiyu Wang beat second-seeded Yafan Wang in two sets with 6-4 and 7-6 (10/8) sets in one hour, 50 minutes, 50 seconds.

In the first round of matches, another seeded member of the female cast was eliminated. The Czech Marie Bouzkova, third-seeded, fell to the German Tatjana Maria who won in three sets with sets of 6-4, 1-6 and 6-2 in two hours 25 minutes and 12 seconds.

In contrast, the British Heather Watson and the Japanese Nao Hibino did assert their status as favorites on the day of their presentation at the Acapulco tournament.

Watson, the seventh seed, defeated the American Coco Vandeweghe in three sets with sets of 4-6, 6-4 and 6-4 in two hours and 30 minutes and 55 seconds.

For her part, Hibino, eighth in the seed, threw the Dutch Arantxa Rus out of the tournament in two rounds with cards of 6-3 and 6-1 in one hour and 33 minutes and 28 seconds.

-Hard disputes-

In the men’s box, there were two tough contests from which the Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic and the Swiss Stan Wawrinka came out ahead.

Kecmanovic eliminated Australian Alex de Miñaur by defeating him in three sets with 3-6, 6-4 and 6-3 partial in one hour and 59 minutes and 20 seconds.

For his part, Wawrinka asserted his third-seeded status against American Frances Tiafoe.

In a match in which he registered 35 aces, Wawrinka achieved victory in three sets with cards of 6-3, 6-7 (4/7) and 7-6 (7/1) in two hours and 44 minutes and 59 seconds.

It was easier for Kyle Edmund to beat Feliciano López in the last game of the day.

The Briton accounted for the Spanish in two sets with partials of 6-4 and 6-1 in one hour and eight minutes and 36 seconds.
