The F1 Portuguese GP reduces public presence due to covid-19

The maximum capacity of spectators for the Formula 1 Portuguese Grand Prix, scheduled this weekend, was reduced by the covid-19 pandemic, announced the Algarve International Autodrome (AIA), where the race is held.

«As a result of the new measures against covid-19, the health authorities determined limitations on the presence of the public at the F1 Grand Prix of Portugal, that is, a decrease in the number of spectators as well as a prohibition of spectators in the area of pedestrians, “the AIA, whose circuit is located in Portimao, in the tourist heart of the Algarve region, said in a statement.

Portugal is currently facing an increase in the number of infections, which on Friday reached a record with 2,608 new cases in 24 hours.

It will be the first time that Portugal has hosted a Formula 1 Grand Prix since 1996.

One of the great attractions of the race will be to know if the British Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) manages to overcome the record of victories in Grand Prix, which he now shares with 91 with the German Michael Schumacher. AFP (HN).
