The last remaining unbeaten in the Premier League fell with Tottenham’s 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace. Odsonne Edouard added a double to the penalty converted by Wilfried Zaha.
The Spurs won their first three games with their new coach Nuno Espirito Santo, all 1-0, but did not have several of their starters at Selhurst Park and were also reduced to 10 men with the expulsion of Japhet Tanganga for two yellow cards in a span of five minutes.
Zaha opened the penalty marker in the 76th minute. Shortly after, Edouard’s shot deflected defender Ben Davies and came in close to the post.
Edouard completed his double with a close shot in the third minute of injury.
Later, Cristiano Ronaldo made his second debut for Manchester United, against Newcastle. The 36-year-old Portuguese returned to United after 12 years, unexpectedly transferred by Juventus.
The masses of fans who arrived at the stadium wearing their new jerseys with Ronaldo’s name on the back saw their hopes fulfilled when the line-up was announced an hour before the game.
