Toyota presents wooden car

Most cars are made of metal and fiberglass, but Toyota engineers have gone out of the way to create a novel wooden car.
This time the designers of the Japanese brand decided to use cedar and birch wood for the construction of this prototype because it is a durable material but at the same time it tends to evolve over the years. In this way the Setsuna, which means “moment” in Japanese, represents the gradual transformation that vehicles undergo over the years but at the same time they can last a long time if they are well cared for.
Toyota Setsuna, a concept made from wood, makes its appearance at Milan Design Week – Milan Design Week – next April.
According to Kenji Tsuji, the Toyota engineer who oversaw the development of the Setsuna, Japanese cedar was used for the exterior panels and Japanese birch for the frame, inclusive. the floor and the seats were also made of wood.
Likewise, this Toyota Setsuna Concept stands out for its implementation of the Japanese carpentry technique called okuriari, therefore, no nails or screws were used for the construction of the vehicle.
It works? Of course.
