Toyota’s Lappi finishes leader in Rally Finland

Finn Esapekka Lappi (Toyota) finished provisional leader of Rally Finland, ninth round of the World Championship (WRC), after completing the thirteenth stage.

The 26-year-old was placed leader of the test, for the first time in his career in the premier class, at the end of the tenth special. In the rally standings he is ahead of two compatriots, Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) and Teemu Suninen (M-Sport / Ford), with a margin of 4.4 and 19 seconds, respectively.

The leader of the World Championship, the Frenchman Sebastien Ogier (M-Sport / Ford), could not finish the day, after a road start in the fourth special. He lost his options to fight for victory in this rally.

Belgian Thierry Neuville (Hyundai), second in the World Championship 11 points behind Ogier, was eighth, 58 seconds behind Lappi, at the end of Friday’s battle in a long day of specials in Finland.
