The French Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (61st in the world) won the ATP 250 Tournament in Metz by beating the Slovenian Aljaz Bedene (76th) in the final in three rounds; 6-7 (4/7), 7-6 (7/4) and 6-3.
The 34-year-old Tsonga claimed his 18th title, his fourth at the Moselle Open, after 2011, 2012 and 2015.
«It was a beautiful final, the audience, who were wonderful, saw a good show. I’m very happy, I’ve had a great week, “said Tsonga when he received the trophy.
Following a blank 2018 season from injuries, the French veteran had slipped past 200th place in early February, prior to his victory in Montpellier. On Monday he will be among the 50 best players in the world again.
The Metz Tournament was played on a hard surface and distributed 586,140 euros in prizes.
