Two spectators die at the Appennino Reggiano Rally of Italy

Two spectators at the Rally Appennino Reggiano were killed in Italy after being run over by a competitor’s car, Italian media announced.

The two victims, two men aged 21 and 35, were run over by an Italian team’s Peugeot 208 in the 41st Appennino Reggiano Rally, which was taking place in the municipality of Riverzana in Canossa, in Emilia-Romagna (north).

The vehicle ran off the road while traveling at high speed on a straight section of the route and crashed into spectators who were gathered on a small hill.

The wounded were airlifted to Bergamo hospital, but died from their injuries.

On the other hand, the pilot and co-pilot of the vehicle were unharmed from the accident. AFP (HN)
