Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury wants President Donald Trump to assist him from the corner in his eventual fight against current IBF and WBA champion Anthony Joshua.
«@RealDonaldTrump in your opinion, who will win the Fury-AJ (Joshua, NDLR) match? You could join me, be part of the greatest fight of all time, “said the boxer on social media.
Fury has not stepped into a ring since his triple heavyweight crown (WBO-WBO-IBF) against Ukraine’s Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015.
Fury is not licensed to fight as a professional in the UK as it was withdrawn in October 2015 for cocaine use.
Accused of doping for a year by the British Anti-Doping Agency (UKAD), he is waiting to testify before that body.
Fury compared his eventual match with Joshua on Instagram to the ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman in Kinshasa in 1974.
In early October, he announced on Twitter that he intends to return in April for “three big fights in 2018.”
After retaining his IBF and WBA titles against French-American Carlos Takam on Saturday in Cardiff, Joshua did not rule out the possibility of a fight against Fury, although putting the goal of unifying the titles first by fighting against WBO champion, New Zealander Joseph Parker, and against the WBC champion, the American Deontay Wilder.
