The Italian rider Valentino Rossi (Yamaha), nine times world champion in motorcycling, is one of the winners in the first edition of the 2018 Ciudad de Jerez Motor Awards.
Along with Rossi as the most outstanding driver, the CEO of Dorna, Carmelo Ezpeleta, has been recognized as an award for a career of the person or entity linked to the world of motoring; and posthumously Francisco Pacheco, as the most outstanding Andalusian for his contribution to the motor world, as he was the forerunner in the construction of the Jerez Circuit in the eighties.
A second prize has gone to the family of Spanish champion Ángel Nieto, who died last summer and ’12 +1 ′ times world champion.
The delivery of the Ciudad de Jerez Motor Awards will take place on Thursday, May 3 at the Jerez Circuit, as the event prior to the next MotoGP Spanish Grand Prix.
The identity of the winners has been decided this Tuesday by a jury made up of municipal representatives and experts in the motor world.
The president of the Unión de Motoclubes Jerezanos Federation, Antonio Rosado, participated in the jury meeting, along with Pepe Hermosín, Ildefonso Sánchez and Dolores Rosado, all of them members of the local Motor Council, as well as Alfonso de Orleans-Borbón, founder of Racing Engineering, team of motoring Spanish, and the journalist and expert in the motor world Jesús Benítez Corrales.
