Former Real Madrid player Ruud van Nistelrooy will be the coach of the PSV Eindhoven subsidiary, which is in 16th place in the Dutch second division, starting next season.
“It is time to take the next step,” said Van Nistelrooy, 44, in a statement released today by the Eindhoven club.
The former Madrid player began training PSV youth squad in 2016, when he took over PSV’s B1 team, and currently runs the same club’s U-18 branch.
«I love working with a group of players and transmitting my football ideas. The time has come to make the move to professional football, “said Van Nistelrooy, for whom the goal is” to prepare as many players as possible for the first team. “
PSV Eindhoven and the former Real Madrid and Manchester United player have not yet agreed on the length of his contract as the subsidiary’s coach, the Dutch team clarified. Van Nistelrooy will take over from Peter Uneken, who did not want to continue in the role for next season, the statement said.
“Ruud is ready to be the manager of a professional football team,” said the club’s technical director, John de Jong, for whom “the PSV academy is a rock, partly thanks to Ruud’s efforts.”
The former Real Madrid and Madrid player will combine his role as coach of the PSV subsidiary with that of Frank de Boer’s assistant coach in the Netherlands during the next European Championship. EFE (HN)
