Venezuelan Linares retained the WBA lightweight title

Venezuelan Jorge Linares retained his lightweight title from the World Association of Boxing (WBA) by defeating local boxer Anthony Crolla this Saturday in the English city of Manchester, by unanimous decision of the judges.
The British boxer could not take revenge for the defeat suffered against Linares last September, in which the Venezuelan also won.
The South American dropped his rival in the seventh round with an uppercut. The English fighter was able to continue the fight, but Linares continued to be superior, with accurate blows until the end of the confrontation.
The three judges agreed to give Linares a higher score of 118-109.
“Jorge Linares is a great boxer and a great champion,” Crolla said of his rival.
“He tried it again tonight,” he added.
Before the fall of Crolla in the seventh round, Linares had already put his rival in trouble in the second and third rounds, with a series of combinations, while in the sixth ’round’, the Briton suffered a cut in the area from the left eye, after a direct from the right of the Venezuelan.
With this victory, the 31-year-old Venezuelan fighter raises his numbers to 42 wins (27 before the limit) and three losses, in 45 fights.
I want to tell everyone in Manchester, Anthony Crolla has huge balls. He has a great will and that is why he reached the 12th round, “said the Venezuelan.
Crolla, 30, of Italian origin, added his sixth loss in 40 fights, with 31 victories and three voids.
Crolla’s last two defeats had the same scenario and the same rival, the Manchester Arena in his hometown and the Venezuelan Linares, who on September 24 had snatched the WBA lightweight title from him in a more fierce fight.
