Verstappen leads in first practice of the Brazilian GP

Dutchman Max Verstappen set the fastest time in the first practice session of the Brazilian Grand Prix on Friday.

At the wheel of his Red Bull, Verstappen outscored Sebastian Vettel by 0.049 seconds.

The new world champion Lewis Hamilton was third, 0.096 seconds behind at the Interlagos circuit.

The practice took place on a cloudy day. Rain is forecast for qualifying on Saturday and in the race on Sunday.

Daniel Ricciardo, with the other Red Bull, was fourth. The Australian will be looking to rank as high as possible as he faces a five-place penalty at the start for changing an element of his engine for the sixth time this season.
