Vince Carter wants to be the player with the longest seasons in the NBA

Vince Carter, the oldest active player in the NBA at 42, wants to become a record player in 2019-2020, with 22 seasons played in the major league of American basketball.

“I’m going for a season,” Carter said in a podcast that was published with fellow Atlanta Hawks, Kent Bazemore, titled Winging It.

Carter, drafted in 1998, said he was looking forward to a new one-season deal with his Atlanta team. “It’s my wish, we’ll see what happens,” he said.

The veteran player participated in the last 76 games of the regular season in the Hawks jersey averaging 7.4 points per game averaging 17.5 minutes per game.

If he plays in the 22nd season, he will become the longest-serving player in the NBA, a title that is currently shared by newly-ended German Dirk Nowitzki, Robert Parish, Kevin Willis and Kevin Garnett.

Carter has played for eight different teams in the NBA, including Toronto from 1998 to 2005 and New Jersey (to Brooklyn) from 2005 to 2009.

The veteran player, a member of the 2000 United States Olympic champion team in Sydney, Australia, never won the NBA title.

His best result in the NBA is a conference final that he lost playing with the Orlando Magic against the Boston Celtics 4-2 in 2010. AFP
