World Boxing leader assures that a new era of aggressive boxing is born

The president of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Mauricio Sulaimán, said today that a new era was born in the sport of fists after Manny Pacquiao’s fight against Floyd Mayweather on May 2.
“After that fight, a new era of boxing began,” Sulaiman, who is on tour in Nicaragua to celebrate the sixth anniversary of the death of the late boxer Alexis Argüello, told Efe.
Sulaiman, who justified Mayweather’s low-risk fighting style, said that the new era brings a different boxing than the American boxer offers.
«The style that is going to be imposed is aggressive, that of fights, of struggle, like that of Chocolatito (Román González), which is the one that is most liked in Latin America, style (Julio César) Chávez, (Roberto) ‘Hand of stone “Duran,” said the president of the WBC.
González, three-time champion of the world of small weights, is considered one of the best fighters of today, and has a style that many consider perfect, given his speed of fists, aim, forcefulness and courage.
In this sense, Sulaimán put in the same order the champions Gennadi Golovkin, originally from Kazakhstan, the Mexican Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez and the American of Latin descent Miguel Cotto.
“It is a golden age that is coming, the small pesos are coming, the big pesos, a great activity of the first level,” Sulaimán pointed out. EFE
