Wozniacki eliminated in the last 16 at Eastbourne

Danish Caroline Wozniacki, a former world number one and Australian Open champion in 2018, was eliminated in the third round (round of 16) of the Eastbourne tournament.

Wozniacki, current 14th in the world, fell to Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka (10th) 2-6, 6-4 and 7-6 (7/5).

The rest of the favorites had no surprises.

Czech Karolina Pliskova, Dutch Kiki Bertens, German Angelique Kerber and Romanian Simona Halep qualified for the quarterfinals.

The WTA tournament in the British city of Eastbourne is played on grass and distributes almost a million dollars in prizes.
