Wrestler McGregor arrested for altercation with supporter

Mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor was arrested by US police for allegedly smashing a sympathizer’s cell phone outside a Miami Beach (Florida) nightclub.

The 30-year-old Irishman was charged with criminal mischief and armed robbery after Miami police said he allegedly removed the phone from the fan’s hand and threw it to the ground.

According to Miami police, McGregor is charged with robbery with use of force and misdemeanors of criminal conduct, after allegedly snatching the phone from a man taking photos outside the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach at 5:00 a.m. on Monday.

In a statement, McGregor’s attorney spoke about the incident.

“On Monday night, Conor McGregor was involved in a minor altercation over a cell phone that led to a call to authorities. Mr. McGregor appreciates the response from the force of law and promises his full cooperation, ”the statement read.

McGregor last fought in October at UFC-229 in Las Vegas, where he lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov in a match that was marred by a post-fight brawl.

Both fighters were suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for their participation in the fight.

McGregor, who had already been in trouble with US law in an assault case, was arrested shortly after by Miami police. He was released after posting a $ 12,500 bond.

In April 2018, McGregor injured two other fighters in New York after a press conference for the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship), the main organizer of MMA fights, to which he was not invited.

Arrested by the NYPD and later released, McGregor pleaded guilty in late July to a public disturbance in a Brooklyn courthouse, which saved him from trial and jail. He had agreed to do community service and anger management training.

At 30, McGregor remains the UFC’s main attraction, despite losing his last fight in the Octagon to Russia’s Khabib Nurmagomedov last October.

The provocative Irishman received more than $ 30 million for a controversial fight against American boxer Floyd Mayweather in August 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He lost by referee decision in the 10th round, not without shaking one of the best fighters in history.
