The New York Yankees played as usual at Yankee Stadium and beat the Houston Astros 6 × 4 behind, to equal the American League championship series with two wins per side.
With the top -the best of seven games- equaled 2-2, this Wednesday Game 5 will take place on the same stage of the ´Caldera del Diablo´ with a pitchers duel based on the Japanese Masahiro Tanaka (Yankees) and the left-hander Dallss Keuchel (Astros).
The offensive heroes of the victory were rookie sensation Aaron Judge, Didi Gregorius from Curaçao, Gary Sánchez and veteran Brett Gardner, not to mention the good pitching of the starter Sonny Gray and the closing of the Cuban closer Aroldis Chapman.
Judge drove in two touchdowns with a home run, Gregorius an RBI triple, Sanchez a two-lead double and Brett Gardner on a charter.
After a close five-inning scoreless encounter, the Astros manufactured three in the sixth against starter Gray, who walked to lead George Springer.
Immediately afterwards, outfielder Josh Reddick reached base due to catcher interference by making contact with his swing with the mascot of the mask and another walk to Venezuelan José Altuve to load the bases.
Then, after striking out Puerto Rican Carlos Correa, Cuban Yuliesky Gurriel cleared the bases with a double off reliever David Robertson, but was put out trying to turn the hit into a triple.
The Astros stepped back on the rubber in the seventh when Marwin Gonzalez doubled and scored on an error by second baseman Starlin Castro on a groundout by catcher Brian McCann.
However, the Yankees deducted two in the seventh by homer by rookie Judge, second in a row, triple by Gregorius from Curaçao and sacrifice fly by Dominican Sánchez.
Subsequently, the Big Apple’s ninth scored four runs in the eighth to go ahead 6-4, thanks to singles by Todd Frazier, Chase Headley, a double by Judge, a hit by Gregorius and another biangular from Sanchez.
The victory went to reliever Chad Green (1-0), the reverse for also fire extinguisher Ken Giles (0-1) and the save for Cuban Chapman (1), who closed the ninth 1-2-3 with two strikeouts with pitches over 100 miles.
The winner of this series will face the winner of the National League championship between the defending champions Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series, which favors the latter 2-0.
The Yankees are looking to reach the World Series for the first time since 2009, when they beat the Philadelphia Phillies.
For their part, the Astros do it for the first time since 2005, when they played for the National League, and lost to the Chicago White Sox. AFP
