Yankees close with two wins over Red Sox MLB tour in London

The New York Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox 12×8 in a MLB match, the great league of the United States, played in London, one day after their 17×13 victory against the same rival in the British capital .

The London Stadium, the heart of the 2012 Olympics, saw the first MLB games played in Europe. The St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs are also scheduled to meet in London in 2020.

“We wanted to make a great foray into Europe and there is no better way to do it than with two rivals,” said MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred.

The Red Sox and the Yankees, centuries-old rivals, have between them 36 victories in the World Series, the title awarded to the Major League champion. The Boston team is the defending champion and the New York team the most awarded franchise.

For Yankee shortstop ‘Didi’ Gregorius, who was born in Amsterdam, it was a “fantastic” experience. “I loved playing serious games in Europe,” he confessed.

On Saturday the Yankees beat their staunch rival 17 × 13 in a crazy game that lasted 4 hours and 42 minutes.

At the start of the clash, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan received a New York Yankees mini-uniform for their baby Archie.

“I hope we return regularly, but we would like to play in other places as well,” said Manfred.
