Yankees starters have their best combined performance in 89 years

Since Corey Kluber pitched a no-hitter game against the Texas Rangers on Wednesday, New York Yankees pitchers have been untouchable in their most recent starts.

The degree of dominance is so great that all four Bronx Bombers starters have posted their best combined performance since 1932.

The streak that began with Kluber was extended with Jordan Montgomery on Thursday and with Dominican Domingo Germán on Friday to leave the table set for rotation ace Gerrit Cole, who did not fail and extended the streak to four games in Saturday’s victory for 7-0 against the White Sox.

Generally speaking, Yankees starters have pitched 7.0 or more innings without a run in each of their last four starts, a streak the team’s starters did not achieve 89 years ago when Johnny Allen, George Pipgras, Red Ruffing and Lefty. Gomez combined it with the same numbers.

Three of those four games have ended in shutouts for the team to total eight this season, which is where they lead the MLB. This is the fourth time the Yankees have won at least eight games without a run in the first 46 games of the season.

In the past they did this in 1958 (nine shutouts), 1955 (eight shutouts), and 1910 (nine shutouts). The Yankees will try to continue the hot streak this Sunday when they close their series against the Chicago White Sox. The person in charge of taking the field leading the Bronx Bombers will be Jameson Taillon. (https://www.septimaentrada.com) (GG)
