The neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, doctor of the late Diego Armando Maradona, used a forged signature of the soccer star to, on September 1, almost three months before he died, request his medical history from the clinic where he was being treated, they reported this Friday to Efe sources of the investigation.
“The conclusion of the handwriting experts is conclusive and says that the signatures were not made by Maradona, but were forged,” they said.
After the death of the idol, on November 25 due to a cardiorespiratory arrest, the Justice began an investigation to determine if there was any type of negligence in his medical treatment that could lead to a crime of wrongful death.
Although up to now the case has not formally accused or detained, various searches and seizures have been made, mainly in properties of Luque, who was treating Maradona and had participated in his intervention for a brain hematoma at the beginning of November, and his psychiatrist , Agustina Cosachov.
THREE SHEETS WITH FALSE SIGNATURES
In the searches at the neurosurgeon’s home, on November 29, three documents were seized that were later subjected to an expert opinion.
Two of these sheets contain the same typewritten text, in which Maradona formally requests the Olivos Clinic, located in the Buenos Aires town of the same name, to give Luque, his “personal doctor,” a copy of his medical history.
“In one there is a single signature, which is what I suppose this person understands that would have looked good on him, and the other is the same writing with the same content with 10 or 12 signature tests,” explained the sources.
And the third page seized is a Maradona signature, presumably scanned from an original document, also accompanied by evidence of signatures around it.

Diego’s signatures attributed to Luque.
A POSSIBLE IMPUTATIONN
Once the falsity of the signature of that document that, sent digitized to the clinic, allowed Luque to obtain the clinical history has been determined, the neurosurgeon could be charged with using an adulterated private document, considered a crime in Argentina, regardless of whether who whether or not it was used by the person who actually forged the signature.
“It must be analyzed, but it could imply an accusation for Luque because (the legal framework) says that whoever uses the document does not necessarily have to be the author of the falsity, which makes it independent who has falsified it,” the sources stated.
“Although there are suspicions that, as Luque (the letter) had, Luque may have forged it, what we have proven is that Luque used it to withdraw the medical history,” they clarified.
NO IMPUTED BY THE ALLEGED BAD PRAXIS
Maradona died at the age of 60, in the solitude of his room at the home in the province of Buenos Aires where he was recovering from the operation to which he was subjected in November, among other ailments.
Already in December, a toxicological report revealed that there was neither alcohol nor illegal drugs in his body, but there was the presence of various medications to treat his physical and mental health.
At the moment, according to the sources, there are no defendants in the framework of the death investigation, since what is being done is to collect all the information so that the medical board that will be formed to determine how the actions of the Doctors work with as much documentation as possible and be “as serious and conclusive.”
“That is why we are finishing looking at some missing medical history, complementary expertise and all the interest deductions from telephone conversations,” they added.
That board will be made up of experts appointed by both the Prosecutor’s Office and the defenses of Luque and Cosachov and the four individuals who presented themselves as plaintiffs in the case: On the one hand, their eldest daughters, Dalma and Gianina; on the other the sisters of the star; and also Jana, another of the daughters, and Diego Fernando, who is still a minor, represented by his lawyer.
