Montreal Impact where the catracho striker, Rommel Samir Quioto, announced his name change that removes the Impact nickname that he has had for the last 28 years in multiple leagues and replaces it with Club de Foot Montreal.
“It’s hard to let go of the things you love, but here’s the truth: to make an impact, we needed to retire Impact,” said Montreal owner Joe Saputo.
“To continue to grow and progress, we are making a major change,” said Club de Foot Montreal President and CEO Kevin Gilmore. “This transformation is inspired by the culture of our city, its people, as well as the history of our club and our sport in Montreal, to lead us to an even brighter future. It is a great metamorphosis that will stimulate and guide our evolution.
While on the outside the team colors remain black and blue, the Montreal ad emphasized that there are some subtle changes to the scheme. Colors include ‘impact black’, which the club says is ‘deeper and richer’; ‘ice gray’, which represents’ the ice that flows through all the veins of Montreal; and ‘sacre bleu’, a shade darker and more pronounced than its predecessor.

The new logo is circular with a black background and a snowflake motif. The arrows represent the Metro’s transportation system that “connects everyone in Montréal,” while Fleur de Lys maintains the connection with Impact and the province of Quebec. The blue border represents “the rivers that surround our island.”
The brand’s main typeface is Neue Montreal Bold.
“Soccer is more established than ever in Montreal and its history, dating back to the late 19th century, continues to evolve with this announcement,” said Foot Club Montreal co-creative director Justin Kingsley.
“We wanted to connect our identity even more strongly with that of our city. Montréal and its fans inspired us to create this local brand image, made by Montréal residents, to affirm that we are here to stay. (GG) (ESPN Sports)
