Portuguese José Mourinho, currently in charge of Roma, will celebrate his 1,000th official match as head coach against Sassuolo on Sunday.
“90,000 minutes, plus discount times … It’s a lot!”, Said this week ‘Mou’ to the Lusa Agency of his country, referring to that thousand party.
«I never thought I could reach that figure and I have never counted the games. But when they informed me that I only had eight or nine left, then I wrote it down and started to do the math, ”explained the 58-year-old Portuguese coach.
Roma is Mourinho’s tenth experience on a bench as head coach, since he started in those roles in September 2000 at Benfica. He then went through greats such as Porto, Chelsea -in two stages-, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Tottenham.
In his record, he has two titles in the Champions League (Porto in 2004, Inter in 2010) and league champion titles in the four national championships in which he has directed.
The current stage in Roma means his return to ‘Calcio’ after leaving Inter, which he led in 2010 to a historic triple in Serie A-Italian Cup-Champions League.
At the moment, the balance is very positive and Mourinho’s Roma won their first four official games, two in Serie A and two in the new Conference League. AFP (HN)
