Son of the “Magic” González follows in his footsteps and signs for Cádiz in Spain

Soccer runs through his veins. He inherited from his father the passion for the game that captures millions of people around the planet. His father became a world football icon for his skills with the ball since he became known at the 82nd World Cup and then for so many years at Cádiz CF in the 1980s.

Jorge ‘Mágico’ González, a member of the FIFA Hall of Fame, enjoys a quiet life in El Salvador at the age of 63 with his family. His age does not prevent him from playing games from time to time. He feels happy with the ball and also looks forward to the possibility that one of his sons, who bears the same name as him, could have a career as a footballer. Time will tell.

His name is Jorge González Lemus. He is the penultimate of Mágico González’s offspring and like his father he has a fondness for soccer. At the age of 18, he is a member of the youth team of Alianza, a team from San Salvador in which he passed the tests to be part of their squad.

Jorge junior is an attacker like his father, but in his case his good leg to handle the ball is the left. He develops in a habitual way as a playmaker.

Jorge González Lemus is preparing to face a unique experience at his age. The young man will move to Cádiz in the approximate period of one month to join the yellow team. At the age of 17, his destiny will be the youth Cádiz CF under Francisco Arias ‘Sanchís’, who continues as coach.

The son of ‘Mágico’ will live a kind of soccer ‘Erasmus’ in Cádiz CF. He will play in the youth team next season and see what football has in store for him. Of course, without abandoning their training off the field of play, an important part. He is a very formal boy.

The ties between Cádiz CF and ‘Mágico’ are maintained over time. The Salvadoran star is always aware of the yellow team from a distance. And now he has a more compelling reason to be in contact with Cádiz CF and Cádiz to hear from his son.

Jorge González Lemus has the footballing example of his father but he does not pretend or demand to be like ‘Magic’ on the pitch because he was unique. He wants to enjoy and have his own journey without the weight of his father’s name.

In statements made almost two years ago to El Grafico, a Salvadoran newspaper, González Lemus was very humble: “I don’t like to tell my colleagues that I am the Magician’s son, because they may think that I am enlarged. I don’t know how they found out. People expect me to be like my father, the Magician. But in this country I don’t know anyone who is like him, so why expect me to play like him.

Then, the son of the once world star acknowledged that “it is a lot of weight to be the son of the Magician, but my father is spectacular and gives me advice to take this.” Of course, by not setting the goal of playing like his father, he has clear ideas. “I have no pressure to be equal to or better than my father,” he said in El Salvador newspaper.
